Formerly a schoolhouse, then a forester's lodge, the building has been used as the town hall of the city of Tegernsee since 1888. The core of the house is from the 19th century, the conversion to its current form took place in 1886, the portal around 1925-30.
The Tegernsee coat of arms, above the entrance to the town hall, was created from the monastery coat of arms. It shows twice intertwined sea leaves over surging waves and twice three crowns. The double leaf is the oldest heraldic symbol of the former Benedictine abbey.
