Buca delle Candele is so named for the furrows produced by water erosion in the karst rock.

It is located in the plaster park above the bridge. The gypsum rocks are vertically cracked and in fact give the idea of "candles". This at least seen from the outside but as soon as I have the opportunity to go deeper I will update the comment. It is a destination for hikers so always pay attention ....

Near the "Palestrina", an ancient quarry front perhaps from the Roman era, on the steep walls of a sinkhole located within a wooded spot, the runoff has produced evident and spectacular vertical furrows with a shower section known as "candle erosions ”.
