Since World Youth Day 2005, the Adolph-Kolping-Pilgerweg has connected Marienfeld near Kerpen, the birthplace of Kolpin, with Cologne, where the Catholic social theologian is buried in the Minoritenkirche. The steles are made of basalt lava and show the coat of arms of Pope Benedict XVI, the tablet with the image of Kolping, the logo of the World Youth Day and the coat of arms of the historic rifle brotherhoods.
The stele in the city forest is a good meeting place and starting point for cycling tours in the west and south-west of Cologne.

In 2005, this path was set up on the occasion of the World Youth Day in Cologne and marked with seven milestones. On the Marienfeld in Kerpen, with the so-called "Pope Hill", the final worship service was celebrated with almost one million people.
