The castle was built on the grounds of two Siedelhöfe. The settler farms belonged to the knight Otto von Enzenberg and the lords of Thüna. In 1497 the abbot Georg von Thüna was appointed emperor by the emperor. Thus, the monastery also got worldly influence. The Thünas then exerted influence on the city (Wikipedia).

Vandring

It is an irregular building with a strong architectural structure. The building sticks to a steep slope of the Saale terrace and was extended to the east in a polygonal manner over the city wall. The gables are richly decorated and roughly represent the North German construction method. The corner bay window, which overlooks the courtyard, is fitted with tracery. The pointed arch portal is the entrance. A former wall tower was included in the construction on the north side. There is another loophole there. The castle is adorned with seven ornate gables.
