Since the establishment of the railway line Berlin-Szczecin in the years 1842/43 trains are rolling through Zepernick. The Zepernicker had to wait nearly 40 years until a breakpoint was opened. At that time the tracks still ran at ground level, secured by barriers. The Höherlegung on a railway embankment took place in 1909/10. In 1938 there was a shunting accident.

From the S-Bahn station Zepernick (S2) the large wooden entrance portal of the Schönower Heide can be reached in about 4 km.

Vandring

Zepernick train station is a good starting point for hikes in Panketal or for cycling routes along the Pankeradweg. The station has an elevator, several benches and electronic display boards. A train on the S2 S-Bahn line stops here every 20 minutes and continues to Bernau or back to Berlin city centre. There is a small snack bar at the train station.
