The modern town of Concarneau was built near the walled town, which is the old town surrounded by fortifications. Suburbs gradually developed on the mainland near this “island city”. It is only recently in the history of Concarneau that the city left its ramparts. The town of Concarneau is crossed by the Ria du Moros, a small coastal river which flows into its port.

The town of Concarneau consists of the modern and the old, fortified island town of Ville Close. The town of Concarneau is crossed by the Moros Estuary, a small coastal river that flows into its harbor.
Visiting the Ville Close is a must. And if you're an early riser, I recommend a tour of the fish market in Les Halles. Of course, Concarneau is also famous because it is here that television inspector Dupin solves his cases after his transfer from Paris and discovers his love for Brittany.
