Cykling
One of the most important Catholic places of worship in Puglia, the Cathedral of Otranto saw the light in the twelfth century, on previous settlements of the Messapian, Roman and early Christian periods. Of particular artistic importance is the mosaic inside, commissioned in 1163 by the archbishop of Otranto Gionata and executed by the monk Pantaleone.

Katedralen blev opført på resterne af tidligere bygninger og indviet i 1088. Gennem århundrederne blev den ombygget og restaureret flere gange, især efter den tyrkiske belejring i 1480, hvor mange af de oprindelige fresker blev ødelagt, og selve strukturen blev beskadiget.
