Lutindi Mental Hospital is located high up in Usambara Mountains, close to Korogwe. It was founded in 1896 as children's nursery with German direction. Nowadays it is the most important and recognized psychiatric hospital in Tanzania, with still close connections to Germany.
Lutindi Mental Hospital offers an eco cultural tourism project, guiding visitors into surrounding Usambara mountains - with rain forests or tea plantations.
