Vandring
The fortifications of the city of Neuss consisted of a ring of walls with half-towers and five main gates. When the city was bombarded in 1586, the Lower Gate, the bulwark at the Rhine Gate and a large part of the city wall on the north side were destroyed.
For Euroga 2002Plus, the course of the fortification wall in the Middle Ages in the old city of Neuss was recreated at a height of 1-1.2 m and parts of the wall and the city gates were erected in miniature. The city wall was rebuilt from a steel structure.

In 1646, the Hessian Colonel Rabenhaupt built a new gate on the Erft side of the city, at the east end of the fish market, which was given the name Hessentor.
