Plaskett Ridge Rd is a gravel forest road that goes roughly North-South along the highest ridge parallel to the Big Sur Coast some 2000 ft (850m) below. It crosses Nacimiento-Fergusson Road at its highest point with spectacular views down toward the coast, and has some primitive free disbursed National Forest camping pull-outs, which are helpful as the official campgrounds on Hwy 1 are expensive but still often full.

this description is not correct. Plasket Ridge is a east west ridge road with lots of private property and is NOT a through road. You will run into a locked gate and private property on Plasket Ridge. The author is actually describing South Coast Ridge road and it is a North South ride with connections to Naci on the North and Willow to the South. Those ARE the only outlets to/from South Coast Ridge road. Plasket is a no go.
