The imposing, ancient pedunculate oak under which Klopstock – as the story goes – composed his ode
in 15 stanzas, is a popular subject for photographs. Following in Klopstock's footsteps,
a cobblestone avenue leads to the renowned Stintenburg Island.
One wonders: Where is the carriage? At the entrance to the island, the "Bridge House" stands to the left. The bridge keeper used to live here. At a drawbridge, he kept watch to ensure that unwelcome visitors stayed away from the small island and the count's manor house.
