The current Rio da Mula Dam, in Serra de Sintra, was built in 1969 to supply water to the city of Cascais. In 1983, the dam suffered a structural failure during heavy rains and caused extensive damage to Cascais. Restructured, today it is an excellent place to enjoy the nature and peace of the region. Mandatory stopping point for both walkers and mountain bikers.
