The villa was built in the 16th century around a chapel dedicated to San Martino, which existed before the year one thousand.
Bishop Vincenzo Negusanti transformed the villa into an astronomical observatory and used it as such until his death in 1573.
Today, inside, there is a scientific museum with an important astronomical footprint and a very important space observatory. Both interactive and visitable.
