The Lower Gate, built around 1418, was part of the late medieval Aichach city wall. From 1989 to 2019 a branch museum of the State Archaeological Collection was housed there.

The Wittelsbacher Museum is an archaeological museum in the lower gate built in 1418, a gate tower of the late medieval Aichach city wall. The museum got its name because of the extensive documentation of Wittelsbach Castle exhibited there, which was the ancestral seat of the Wittelsbach family from the 12th to the beginning of the 13th century.
