Use of the site since 2012

The Salzmann & Comp location closed in 2012. its doors. The city of Kassel planned to set up a technical town hall there together with the building owner, investor Dennis Rossing. In December 2015, the city of Rossing called on Rossing to secure the site against decay in order to preserve the listed building parts after BHB Bauwert Holding withdrew from the planned residential development in August 2015 and the project failed.

On January 22, 2016, the city announced that it would have the building secured and bill the costs to Rossing, who then announced legal action. In July 2016, the Kassel administrative court found that Rossing had to secure the building. Since Rossing did not fulfill his obligation, security measures were commissioned by the city.
