Located on the southern coast of France near the town of Agde, Mont Saint-Loup is an extinct volcano that is now considered one of the most striking natural landmarks in the Languedoc-Roussillon region.
Not only does the mountain offer spectacular views over the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding countryside, it is also of great geological and historical importance.

Mont Saint-Loup is the last offshoot of the Monts d'Agde volcanic massif and was formed around 750,000 years ago during the Pleistocene era.
The volcano is part of a chain of volcanoes that stretch along the southern French coast. Its distinctive conical silhouette and the dark basalt rocks that form the majority of its structure are characteristic of its volcanic origin.
