The Wolfsschlucht Gorge is a reminder that wolves were once present in our region. The last wolf was sighted in Gerlingen in 1846. (Source: City of Gerlingen).
The path into the relatively small gorge leads to the northern portal of the former Engelberg Tunnel, which has since been filled in. Only a few overgrown fortification walls remain. Instead, the renaturation has created a small green oasis on the Engelberg.
