This route is rated as a "Hard" road ride, requiring very good fitness due to its significant elevation gain and length. While the climb to Monte Sant'Angelo is medium-challenging, the overall difficulty comes from the sustained effort. The best time to visit is outside the peak tourist season of June to September, when the northern part of Gargano is wilder and less crowded.
