This stretch of Val d'Orcia that goes from Pienza to the small church of Vitaleta is perhaps among the most iconic and photographed in the area. These hills, dotted with isolated cypress trees, were chosen as the filming location for Ridley Scott's film "Gladiator". The gentle ups and downs of the hills and the crunch of the dirt road under the wheels are a real pleasure.
