The building was built in 1523 in the center of Porto Valtravaglia, perhaps as a token of gratitude for having overcome the plague. It was in fact a simple open chapel, i.e. without a facade, equipped with only one altar on which a Madonna of Loreto was painted, surrounded by saints popularly invoked against the plague. 1630 - 1633 complete reconstruction.
