The church was first reported on in 1450. In the 17th century, until 1683, it was radically changed and partially rebuilt. Side chapels were built and a new presbytery was built.
A new expansion of the building began around 1760, which was completed around 1780 and gave the church its new neoclassical appearance.
In 1942 began the interior decoration work led by Paolo Rivetta and Giovanni Battista Pedrocca, which was completed in 1954.
