The Grensmaas must get a completely different view in the coming years through the implementation of the Grensmaas Project on the Dutch and Belgian sides: flood protection and river restoration are paramount, which can be achieved through a combination of gravel extraction and nature development. At the same time, it is a nature and water management project in which the Dutch and Flemish governments work closely together and which also facilitates the development of nature tourism.
