Lake Bohinj, known locally as Bohinjsko jezero, is Slovenia's largest permanent natural lake, nestled at approximately 526 meters above sea level within the breathtaking Julian Alps. This stunning glacial lake is a true centerpiece of the Triglav National Park in the northwestern Upper Carniola region. Its crystal-clear waters are fed primarily by the Savica River, which famously plunges into the lake via the Savica Waterfall, creating a dramatic and picturesque landscape.

Visitors consistently praise the tranquil atmosphere and the spectacular…

    Landevejscykling

From Bohinjska Bistrica it goes on a wide, but in my case little-traveled road to Lake Bohinjska jezero. Good asphalt and really beautiful views of the surrounding mountain panorama let you roll quickly to the lake. From Savica there would also be a cycle path on the other side of the river.
