This place where the memorial stone stands was chosen because it was obviously dragged here by his horse and he could no longer get out of the stirrup. His comrades found him unconscious, still hanging in the stirrups.
On the morning of July 25, 1850, the Danish major general had to lose his life after a bitter battle for Oberstolk in the fight against the 3rd Infantry Brigade of Schleswig-Holstein.
The burial took place a few days after his death in the old cemetery in Flensburg
