This neoclassical gazebo was built around 1868 on an artificially constructed hill, the so-called Drogenbroodberg, with earth from the digging of the ponds around the slightly earlier completed castle/country house of Jules Van Merris in Proven.
The workers are compensated, among other things, with dry bread, hence the name.

The castle De Lovie was built in 1856 and the castle park was laid out according to the concept of the English landscape garden. De Lovie currently provides guidance to more than 600 young people and adults with a moderate, severe and profound intellectual disability.
