Vandring

Located at the highest point of the Catholic cemetery Rechnitz, the cemetery chapel was built between 1703 and 1710 and consecrated to the plague saints Fabian and Sebastian. The altar is formed by the lower part of a sarcophagus from the mausoleum, and an iron gate from there was provided by the Batthyány family as a portal. The chapel burned down during the fighting around Rechnitz at the end of March / April 1945. It was rebuilt and re-inaugurated after the Second World War. 1970–1972 the chapel was renovated and redesigned as a funeral hall.
