The Laguna Grande de Villafranca de los Caballeros is one of the largest river lagoons in La Mancha and the only one in the region with recreational use. With its 2.5 km of beach, it is a popular tourist destination, especially during the summer months.

Las Lagunas de Villafranca are a popular recreational area among the inhabitants of the area. They have shade under the trees, picnic tables and a beach, so it can be a good excuse for a stop and a dip. In January, the traditional Winter Bath is held here, promoted by the Lagunas Vivas Association, to demand the protection of these wetlands, mainly threatened by the overexploitation of the Gigüela River.
