Georg Friedrich Händel was a German-British composer of the Baroque. His main work includes 42 operas and 25 oratorios - including Messiah with the world-famous "Hallelujah" choir - church music for the English court, cantatas, numerous works for orchestra and chamber and piano music. Handel, whose artistic output extended to all the musical genres of his time, was also active as an opera entrepreneur. He is considered one of the most important musicians in history, and his roots are here in Halle. (Source: In parts Wikipedia)
