Minska's old woman was completely destroyed in the war's chat, a completely new city was created on the ruins site and a new urban order was introduced, new streets and squares. Architecture was dominated by the socialist realist style.

The Upper Town is one of the central districts of old Minsk. After the reconstruction, it has become a rather pleasant place, there are a couple of museums and a huge selection of restaurants, cafes and coffee houses.
