"The small district is south of Neustad an der Orla and was of great importance for the region until the late Middle Ages. Today only the remains of the old castle can be found. Interesting places are the new castle and the small chapel, which was built in the early 13th century. Arnshaugk is a district of Neustadt an der Orla. The town, which is situated on a hill, dates back to the medieval Arnshaugk Castle. As the seat of the Arnshaugk district, Arnshaugk was more important than the "new town" of Neustadt, which was founded below the castle, until the late Middle Ages, before the Arnshaugk district was moved to Neustadt in the 16th century. The first documented mention was on March 20, 1252.
