At an altitude of 480 meters above the small community of Lichtenberg in the northern Vosges, the castle ruins of the same name lie. You can visit the castle and see the changing exhibitions housed there. Or simply enjoy the beautiful view of the Vosges. Information about the castle is available (even in German) here: chateaudelichtenberg.com/index.php

It's been a long time since I was there last.
But it was really fun to make a longer stop here as part of a castle tour. In the village below the castle, about 500 meters away, there are parking spaces and rest stops.
The castle itself costs admission, but I think it's worth the price because it's a large, clean and partly beautifully restored castle complex with a fantastic view.
Only the newfangled museum doesn't really fit in with the old castle complex in my opinion ;-)
