This really imposing church was built by the architect Otto Kuhlmann in neo-Romanesque style and inaugurated in 1908. It was one of the first reinforced concrete buildings in Chemnitz. The cross tower is 64 m high. Due to its location on a gently sloping terrain, the church protrudes from the Lutherviertel, visible from afar.
