A ring wall from the late Iron Age. Finds indicate further use in the 7th, 10th, and 14th centuries. The entrance was probably on the west side. Today it is wooded, covered in leaves, and a nature reserve with no paths – thus, entry is prohibited. Let us rejoice from afar that we live here in peace today and no longer need such protection from others.

While it lacks conventional castle structures, its archaeological significance and the scale of its fortifications are impressive.

Are there specific viewpoints or natural features to look out for around Stesser Burg?

The primary notable features are the impressive earthworks of the ringfort itself, which define the mountain peak. While direct entry onto the archaeological site is prohibited, the surrounding area within the Ruhrtal bei Laer nature reserve offers beautiful natural scenery, particularly the Red Beech forest. There aren't designated panoramic viewpoints of the burg itself, but the experience is more about appreciating the historical landscape and the forest environment.

What is the typical hiking difficulty for trails leading to Stesser Burg?

The trails around Stesser Burg are generally considered intermediate.
