Made it, no bear in the tunnel. Due to the extremely poor quality of the path, we did not need 3-4 hours as planned, but more than 6 hours. The time for the descent became short and the risk of encountering bears increased. Ringing the doorbell, talking loudly or singing, drawing bears' attention to us so that they had time to leave.

Is it possible that you're only used to driving on asphalt? From the photos and the Street View sections, it looks more like good, fine gravel to me.
