The story of Josef‘s Chapel is based on the Corpus Christi procession! It was converted into today's chapel in 1958.

The opposite wayside cross with the inscription:
O wanderer, if you have not thought of Christ today, be remembrance brought to you through this cross.
Nobody can say about this cross either when and by whom it was first erected here. The assumption is that it has always been considered the "Altenhofer Cross". And at the time when the forest in its surroundings was still different, the Altenhof churchgoers were probably the first to see their parish church from here. Today's cross tree was erected on October 31, 1983.

This chapel near Altenhof is dedicated to Saint Joseph, the nursing father of Jesus Christ. Like Zacharias, the father of John the Baptist, he is a man on the threshold from the Old to the New Testament. Joseph was from the house of David, one of the twelve tribes of Israel. He was a carpenter by trade and the fiancé of the Blessed Mother Mary.
The feast day of Saint Joseph in the saints calendar is on March 19th, and on May 1st the church celebrates the feast of "Joseph the Worker".
