The castle of La Alameda is one of the few medieval buildings left standing in the city of Madrid. It is a 16th century fortress that belonged to the Lord of Barajas, Juan Zapata.
The fortress was built in the village of La Alameda, which was a repopulation center that was created in the 13th century. Since its construction, it has changed uses. For a time it was a summer recreation place for the Madrid aristocracy. Currently, it is a museum that can be visited.

The original settlement dates back to the Bronze Age. The current castle was built in the 15th century by the Medoza family.
