All around the old town of Bernau the medieval city fortifications with defense towers and city gates are still preserved. The Marienkirche is also well worth seeing

The 29 m high round tower was part of the medieval defense system and served as a defense and watch tower.

In addition to the Königstor, the Berlinertor, the Powder Tower is a component of the fortification that can be seen from afar to the west. The masonry made of field stones is approx. 2.50 m, the height up to the wreath 21 m and the total height is 25.70 m.
