A medieval castle (and museum) that's actually tucked out of the way behind other buildings on the High Street. The entry fee is worth it for the panoramic views over town and the Ouse to the Downs. Castle Gate, the cobbled street that passes beneath the barbican gate, is open to the public and passes through the grounds to a plaque that marks the 1264 Battle of Lewes to the north of the castle.
