Yes, the route through the nature reserve can definitely be recommended, BUT not in rainy weather. The purest mud fight on certain sections, bike and driver you can see it. In addition, very slippery.

If you are traveling with a lot of luggage and do not want to drive over the gravel road through the nature reserve, you can take the ferry and continue on the other side of the Moselle. But I recommend everyone to cycle through the nature reserve, because it is just beautiful on a hot summer day in the shade always right along the Moselle along. In addition, one comes afterwards on an old railway embankment, which was expanded to the bicycle path.
