The complex, which dates back to the 19th century, consists of the cruciform church, a Loreto chapel, the actual hospital building with the St. Dorotheen's chapel and some additional buildings built later, such as the Marienheim in Żelazna Street. The hospital was designed by the court architect of the Duchess Dorothea de Talleyrand-Périgord, Leonhard Dorst von Schatzberg. The building was erected in the popular architectural style of the client, in the Gothic style.
The foundation stone for the construction of the hospital complex was laid on May 3, 1851, and the facility was put into use in 1859. Source: urzadmiasta.zagan.pl/de/turystyka/zabytki/zespol-szpitalny-sw-doroty
