Vandring

What do Mainz, Krakow, Kiev, Vancouver and the Wonseeser district Schirradorf have in common? All these places are exactly on the 50th parallel. The municipality Schirradorf in Upper Franconia is located in the district of Kulmbach in the state Bavaria and lies at the coordinates 50 latitude and 11.3 longitude. The latitude indicates the distance from any point on the earth's surface to the equator. All latitudes are parallel to each other in east-west direction around the entire earth. These imaginary lines around the globe are called latitude circles. The 50th parallel has a circumference of 25,339 kilometers.

Mountainbiking

Very nice wooden marker of the 50th parallel and a well designed course. Great photo opportunity.

Cykling

Rather funny than culturally valuable, but interesting to see what is on the 50th parallel.
