Navapalos is mentioned in the Cantar de Mio Cid as the place where the Cid Campeador and his men crossed the Duero river. After camping near the town, the poem tells that the archangel Gabriel appeared to the Cid and wished him good luck.

The town has beautiful traditional adobe architecture, as well as an interesting Islamic watchtower.

Almost abandoned town on the road to El Cid. It came to lose all its inhabitants until the hand of a German engineer and his initiative to recover traditional forms of construction as a means of sustainable construction, several buildings were rehabilitated. Today there are hardly 3 or 4 inhabited houses, but it is still attractive

Navapalos is a small uninhabited town partially restored with adobe as the main construction element. It has an Islamic watchtower with a circular floor plan built in masonry, connected to others in the area, thus creating an effective surveillance network.
