The oldest known news of a church in Trittau at the moment is from 10th February 1239; On that day, the provost Bruno of Hamburg assigned the nunnery in Reinbek to both the Reinbeker church and the place of worship built by Reinbek in Trittau.
Within the scope of upcoming refurbishment work, the roof truss was also examined dendrochronologically in 2013: individual beams date back to around 1455.
