The church was first mentioned in 1221, then as the property of the monastery of St. Lawrence.
In 1856 the church was given an organ, in 1894 the church tower was rebuilt. In 1917, the larger of the two bells was melted down, the smaller of them in 1943. In 1944, the church suffered heavy damage from bombs and grenades, but it was not renovated until 1987 on a larger scale.
