Vandring
The monastery of Agios Georgios Selinari (Greek Άγιος Γεώργιος Σελιναρι Ágios Geó̱rgios Selinári) is located directly on the expressway between Neapoli and Heraklion.
It was re-established in 1961. In the area of the monastery there is a monastery church, a small chapel, which was probably built in the 16th century, as well as a bell tower and a spring. The monastery was named after Saint George. The monastery also operates a retirement home. Every year on April 23, the name day of the patron saint, a public festival is celebrated in the monastery.

The monastery is right off the highway and you really shouldn't "ignore" it as it is a really pretty property!
The entrance portal leads to the lower inner courtyard. Appropriate clothing is to be provided there, according to the sign, which originally probably means that shoulders and knees are covered. This is probably no longer possible today. Instead, the area accessible to visitors is relatively limited, with no access to the back or up to the bell tower.
But the pretty ensemble of buildings, lush plants and the rocky backdrop also knows how to impress!
