The Weißensee is a good example of what you miss when you drive through Austria. The trunk road leads past the lake directly above - but you don't even suspect it is here!

The Weißensee lies at 1,082 meters and has a length of 400 and a maximum width of 200 meters. In addition to the Mittersee and the Blindsee it belongs to the "Fernpass-Seen". There are four small islands in the Weißensee.
A wonderful area for hiking, cycling and of course for swimming ... and all this against a breathtaking mountain panorama.

Beautifully situated lake, which - despite - or because of - the location right on the Fernpass road is easily "overlooked".
A few hundred meters after the exit from the Fernpass road is a small parking lot that can be used as a starting point for excursions.
