The Sanctuary of S. Maria di Carpignano is located just outside the town of Grottaminarda, in the hamlet of the same name of Carpignano.
Inaugurated in 1861, it belonged to the Teutonic Order and in 1901 the Mercedarian Fathers arrived there, to whom it was entrusted. The parish of Santa Maria di Carmignano was established with an episcopal bull in 1910.
