It's worth getting off your bike here and listening to the rushing of the Ruhr for a while. Two small but wide steps ensure that the water of the Ruhr falls from one basin to the next at this point. The waterfalls offer a beautiful backdrop for a short rest.

Marking this point on the towpath in Hattingen with the city of Hattingen is questionable for me as a Hattinger, as one did not experience Hattingen when passing this place.
But if you look at the highlight not from Hattinger's point of view but across the region, it makes perfect sense.
The Ruhrtalradweg leads past here, so that the inclined cyclist can and should proudly name Hattingen as the highlight of his route.
Nevertheless, the good advice to those passing through to treat themselves to at least an hour for the historic old town.
