The name arose after the three crosses that were erected here in 1859. The Křížky reserve, like several other locations in the area, has a special flora. The underground rock (serpentinite) releases a large amount of magnesium into the soil. Therefore, only plants that can withstand it can thrive here. Some are even adapted to these conditions in that we cannot find them elsewhere. Some of the plants form stunted forms (nanisms). The heather, known as winter heather, is widespread at the site, and from spring on it bathes the entire area in the burgundy color of the blooming heather.
