There is evidence that a small church stood there from 1498, which was completely destroyed by 1589. In 1664, today's chapel was built in honor of the patron saint Irmgard von Süchteln. The abbot of the Benedictine monastery of St. Pantaleon in Cologne, who also donated an altar in 1681, is considered to be the builder.
The Irmgardisbrunnen (Irmgardis-Pöttsche) is located on the southern slope behind the chapel. It is provided with a small gate, forged in 1948, on which the cross, heart and anchor can be seen as symbols of the three divine virtues of faith, love and hope.
